The #1 High School and University Resource for Nova Scotia Students
John and Isabel Copan Entrance Scholarship

Scholarship Value $1,100

Number of Scholarships 1

Description: Awarded to a full-time first-year student entering UPEI from Pictou County, Nova Scotia, who is in financial need and has a good high school academic record. In the event of equally qualified candidates, the degree of financial need takes precedence over academic standing. If no student from Pictou County applies or is eligible, the Scholarship will be awarded to another student from Nova Scotia.

Background: This award was established by the Copan Family in memory of John and Isabel Copan of Stellarton, Nova Scotia. This award celebrates John and Isabel's spirit of generosity and their characteristic good-natured hospitality. John was a born storyteller and a keen judge of character while Isabel was an avid reader (an L.M. Montgomery enthusiast) and a math whiz. Though financial circumstances prevented both John and Isabel from pursuing higher education, they would surely have enjoyed the experience had they been given the opportunity. Therefore, it is fitting that this award in their memory helps make university education a reality for deserving students.
